My Lord Duke,

I W 23
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 24th March, 1923.
With reference to Your Grace's despatch No.13 of the 18th of January, 1923, I have the honour to inform you that Lance Sergeant Patrick Lannon was admitted to hospital at 8.40 p.m. on the 17th December, 1922, and died at 4.15 a.m. on the 18th December. As far as the medical officer knows, he had only been ill for an hour or so before admission. He was buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rector of the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Hongkong.
After various sums due by the deceased have
been paid, there is a balance amounting only to 240, and a draft for the equivalent of this sum is enclosed. I should be ged if it can be forwarded to his mother. Inspector Browne of the Police Force recently left the Colony on
pension and has taken a few personal belongings of the
deceased which he will hand over to Mrs. Lannon.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord Duke,
Your Grace's most obedient
humble servant,
7.8. Statts
Governor, &c.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
THE DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE, K.G..
&c.,
